10 Things You NEED to Buy from the Sephora VIB Sale

Sephora Favs 2If you’re a beauty lover and you regularly shop at Sephora, you know that twice a year they have a discount sale on ALL their makeup, skincare, and hair products and tools. It’s the perfect time to splurge on all those items you’ve been lusting for but didn’t want to purchase full price. Unfortunately, the spring sale isn’t as great as the fall (hello, can we get 20% off, please?), but it’s nothing to scoff at.

VIB and VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider) Rouge both get 15% off of all regular priced and sale merchandise. And, Beauty Insiders get 10% off of all items. If you’re new to Sephora, but want to shop the sale, anyone can become a Beauty Insider just by signing up. Which means, you’re guaranteed 10% off. You can become VIB by spending at least $350 in a calendar year, and VIB Rouge by spending at least $1,000 in a calendar year. I’m ashamed to admit I’m VIB Rouge.

Here are the dates and codes for the sale:

VIB and VIB Rouge Dates: April 20th – 23rd (15% off YAYROUGE)

Beauty Insider: April 20th – 23rd (10% off YAYINSIDER)

Now, to get to what you’re really here for – the items I recommend picking up in the sale. So without further adieu…

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance or Soft Glam palette – $42 each

So, I am obsessed with the Modern Renaissance palette. I’ve had it for over a year and the shadows continue to perform amazingly well. They are buttery soft and blend like a dream. Plus, the color palette is great for most eye colors and skin tones. You can create both warm and cool tone looks. The Soft Glam palette has a lot of the same colors as the MR, but with a few new ones. I recommend checking them both out.

2. Tatcha Skincare – Camellia Cleansing Oil, Violet C Mask, or Water Cream

I always wait until a sale or I have a gift card to really splurge on those expensive/luxury skincare items. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for when it comes to skincare and ingredient. Tatcha has been my go-to favorite when it comes to skincare lately. Each of these items can be pricy, but they are so worth it to get soft, smooth, and hydrated skin. Look for deluxe sample kits that include some of their best sellers for around $50. It’s a great way to try everything out before committing.

3. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation – $47

This is by far one of my favorite foundations. I always seem to come back to it time and again. I love that it has a creamy texture that glides easily over the skin and doesn’t look heavy or cakey. It’s a soft matte finish, so it works well on my dry skin and also on oily skin types. It’s a medium buildable coverage that I find just looks more natural than a super full, matte finish because you can build it to the desired coverage. It does oxidize (gets darker when exposed to oxygen), so I recommend swatching it on your hand and letting it sit for about 10 minutes before deciding on a shade. It’s pricy, but lasts forever!

4. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara – $26

I never was a high-end mascara person until I received this one to try. It’s my holy grail mascara for long, plump, and voluminous lashes. It is a really wet formula, so I find I like it best after I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it’s had time to dry down. It’s also Lady Gaga’s favorite mascara, which I think really says something. It is expensive, but they have a travel size version for half the price that’s great if you just want to try it out.

5. Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask – $48

So, I hesitate to include this because it’s currently out of stock. But, the brand is working on restocking it as quickly as possible, so there’s a chance it will be back before the sale ends. This mask is wonderful. But, I encourage you to read the reviews to know if it will work with your skin type. I find it a little too heavy to use as a nightly mask, but I do use it as an eye mask twice a day everyday. It’s perfect. I will also occasionally use it as a primer under makeup if my skin is looking dull and a little sunken in.

6. Ouai Haircare Products – Varied Price

So, I am not going to recommend one item in particular for this because I honestly love them all. I started using the hair oil and conditioner after finishing off another high-end brand, and I love this ever more. It’s light and refreshing both in texture and scent. The oil is perfect for split ends or color treated hair to add back in some moisture and the conditioner is gentle enough for everyday. I’m going to link to the brand as a whole so you can see what they offer.

7. Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer – $38

I never believed primers did anything until I started using this one. And, I have a deluxe sample size that I have been using for almost 4 months and it’s still going strong. Which means, you definitely get your moneys worth. This primer is perfect for those with dry or combo skin or for people who use a super matte foundation. It keeps it from sucking all the oils and moisture out of your skin (which is bad for it, believe it or not), and instead keeps you hydrated all day long. I also think it really make the application and longevity of my foundation better.

8. Beauty Blender – $20

So, this isn’t very exciting, but it is a game-changer when it comes to putting on makeup. And, I honestly think it’s better than any other sponges I’ve tried. I used to be a loyal Real Technique sponge girl until I bought a beauty blender. They are smoother and less dense than other sponges, so they make blending out foundation and concealer so much easier. I use this for all my cream products to avoid tugging or pulling at my skin with a brush or fingers which can cause pre-mature wrinkles. You can also use a sponge to apply moisturizer and skin care as well.

9. Fresh Rose Face Mask – $62 or $25

Another product that has a smaller travel size for testing a product before you commit. This mask has actual rose petals in it and is perfect for hydrating and toning the skin. I use it every morning before makeup to help even out my skin tone and texture. I find that combined with the Tatcha Water Cream and my hydrating primers, it really makes my skin feel hydrated all day long. I even use this on morning where I’m not planning on wearing makeup just to keep my skin even all day.

10. Becca Light Chaser Highlighter – $17 on sale now!

Finally, another makeup product. These highlighters are some of the best I’ve used. They are duo-chrome, so depending on how the light hits your face, they can flash bits of other colors. I have a champagne one that sometimes pulls peach and it’s beautiful on tanned or bronzed makeup looks. I’m obsessed with monochromatic makeup right now, and I find this looks perfect when I’m trying to go for all neutral and bronzed makeup. These are currently only $17 on sale and they are perfect for picking up if you want a new highlighter. They also aren’t chunky or too glittery, so they are good if you’re new to highlighting in general. There are five shades on sale now.
