If you’re anything like me, you spend a lot of time and money each month trying out new products. And, most of them are garbage. Like, complete garbage. But, occasionally you’ll find that glowing gem of a product that you just can’t quite live without. This month, I found some pretty awesome products and favorites that I am excited to share with you. Some of these are beauty, some are lifestyle, and some are just for fun. And, some are really random.
Beauty Favorites:
This has been the only palette I’ve used since I got it at the beginning of last month. And, it will continue to be the only palette I use for months to come. I plan on putting up a full review sometime, but in short, wow. The colors are pigmented, buttery soft, and blend out like a dream. Plus, there are a wide range of colors to choose from, so you can get any look you’re wanting. Makes me regret getting my Naked Heat palette.
Holy moly, this powder is awesome. It’s probably the finest milled (that means super soft) powder I’ve ever tried. And, it leaves my skin looking airbrushed. The cool part about it is that you can mix it into your foundation to give you more coverage or use it to set your makeup. I love how soft it is and how it makes my skin look. Just be careful though. Mixing it into your foundation can cause it to make the color a little bit darker.
Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipcolor
If you’re looking for a good matte lipstick from the drugstore, this one is amazing. I think I got this for $5.99 at my local Walgreens. I have a deep berry shade and a bright red and they are both amazing colors. These glide on almost like a lipgloss but dry down to a velvet matte finish. They aren’t super drying on your lips and don’t show fine lines like most liquid lipsticks do. They are also super long wearing.
Another liquid lipstick (because a girl can never have too many lipsticks) is the Ofra liquid lipstick. I received one color of this in my Boxycharm in June and have been using it since. And, thanks to my bestie, I now have another color to wear. These are similar in formula to the Rimmel lipsticks and have a velvet matte finish. They aren’t 100% transfer proof, which means, you can’t be out kissing babies and think they’ll stay completely on your lips. But, they also don’t transfer enough for me to have a problem.
When you want to shine bright like a diamond or, as Chris Crocker puts it, “look like someone’s expensive-ass wife,” this is the highlighter for you. Rodeo Drive is probably Ofra’s most purchased highlighters and for good reason. This is like butter in the pan, doesn’t have chunky glitter, and adds almost an iridescent look to the cheeks, or forehead, or nose, or let’s face it, my entire face.
Tatcha Silk Crème Moisturizer
Yasssss! I’ve already written a full review on this, so I won’t go into too much detail. But, this moisturizer makes my skin feel amazing. Like brand new. Like a baby’s bottom. Soft.
Lately, I’ve been using cream contour and bronzer to warm my skin up. And, because it’s so hot outside I don’t want anything heavy on my face. This bronzer has mixed reviews online and a lot of people don’t like it. I’m not really sure why because it blends out really well and gives a natural looking bronze that I love. It isn’t patchy or streaky and works well with other products on top.
Lifestyle Favorites:
Ashley Graham “A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like”
Probably the only book I’ve read in the last month. This is a kind of autobiography, kind of self-help, kind of advice book written by plus-size model, Ashley Graham. I’ve been following her career for years now ever since she became the first plus size model on Sport’s Illustrated. She’s such a strong woman and confident. I’m hoping she rubs off on me some!
Thrifted Living on Youtube
If you’re looking for great DIY ideas or how to save money on everyday items or décor, Thrifted Living has become my favorite YouTube channel. She’s an elementary school ESL teacher who uses places like the Dollar Tree and thrift shops to help her save money on classroom materials or home décor items. I’ve gotten some great ideas from her!
You can visit her channel here.
Just for Fun:
Grey’s Anatomy
I’m late to the bandwagon on this one and I fully blame my BFFs Jerrica and Brittany for the peer pressure to start this show. And, I hate it. But I really don’t. I think I have cried for at least four seasons straight. It’s great.
Shawn Mendes
Who is this kid and why didn’t I realize how great he was sooner. He’s like my guilty pleasure and I sing his songs way too loudly in the car. Also, he’s a kid and he’s way more talented than me, so there’s that too. Check out “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” because it’s my fav right now!
Yeah, those things that you stuff junk into and then vacuum seal them. They are awesome. I have used at least 7 of them in the last week. And, I get a great workout trying to put all my extra bedding in them. So, really, it’s a double win for me.
